Anthony Raymond (Ray) Rose, 79, of Plymouth Meeting PA. died January 23, 2023. Ray Rose, son of the late Anthony Rose and Lillian (Giannone) DeBenny-Rose, loving husband to Janet Knowles Rose, passed away at Paoli Hospital on Monday, after a long battle with heart disease. He is survived by his wife Janet, his sister Josephine Santillo, his two sons Ray III and Richard (Lori), his daughters Erica (Tom), Angela, Michelle and Gina. One brother Johnny Rose.
He is also survived by 19 grandchildren. Locally, Amanda,Tommy, Audrey, Brielle and Skylar. He was predeceased by his brother Frank DeBenny.
Ray was a proud member of Holy Savior Church in Norristown where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, a member of the MSS Lodge of Norristown, and also the Knights of Columbus, Catholic War Veterans Post 1182, and the Eagles Club.
He was a staff manager at Western Southern life insurance for over 25 years. Following retirement he spent 10 years driving for Balgo. He was treasurer at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Club. Ray enjoyed playing bocce, going out to eat, traveling with family and laying out in the sun. In fact, he lived in West Palm Beach, Florida for 10 years. He was known for being a family man, his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit.
Ray was born on July 10, 1943. Ray’s viewing will be held on Monday evening, January 30, from 6 to 8 PM at the Volpe Funeral home, 707 West Germantown Pike at Whitehall Road in East Norriton.
His funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 AM at Holy Savior Church in Norristown.
There will be no viewing on Tuesday please go directly to the church for mass.
Burial will follow in St Patrick cemetery.
