Anthony "Sam" J Melle Sr

Anthony J. Melle Sr.  "Sam" passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 4, 2022. He was 90 years old. Mr. Melle of East Norriton was a retired Insurance Agent for John Hancock Insurance Company and also worked at the Montgomery County Courthouse as a Court Crier. Sam was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during the Korean conflict. Sam enjoyed bowling, bocce, golfing it was an avid Phillies fan.
Sam was born in Norristown on February 3, 1932, and was the son of the late Peter and Carmella (Carfagno) Melle. Sam was the beloved husband of Mary Lou (Carr) Melle for 67 years. He is survived by his son Anthony J. Melle Jr, two daughters Kathleen, husband Art DiPietro, and Cyndi Melle Fritz, husband Kevin Fritz and his one brother Charles (Susan) Melle. Six grandchildren, Francesca (Melle) Costello, TJ, Corbin, Alyssa, Kevin and Dan. Sam had 10 great grandchildren, with the youngest named after him. Sam was predeceased by his brothers Peter, Russell and Rev. James Melle. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial mass on Monday, September 12 at 10 AM at Visitation BVM church in Trooper. Family will receive relatives and friends at the church prior to the mass from 9:00 to 9:45 AM. Burial will be at St. Patrick cemetery.
