Bernard Stuski Obituary

Bernard R. Stuski, 89, of Jeffersonville, PA, departed his earthly body on January 13, 2022.

Ron aka Bernie was born in Philadelphia, PA on July 6, 1932, the son of Charles and Emma and is predeceased by his brothers Billy and George. He grew up in South Philadelphia attending St. Phillips Elementary, The Southeast Catholic High School for Boys and then LaSalle University and continued his education for his teaching certification. Ron was previously married to Louise C. Foulkrod (Stuski/Bentivegna)

Ron was an accomplished athlete in Basketball and Baseball. He was a catcher in his youth and was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals playing minor league ball with the organization for a brief period. He played on multiple neighborhood basketball and baseball and softball teams- The Philadelphia Boys Club, Cayuga and LaSalle University.

Ron proudly served our country in The United States Army and was deployed overseas in the Korean War. He was a member of the Mummers in the comic division.

“My Dad loved life and made an impact on so many people in the community as an Elementary School Teacher for over forty years at Franklin Smedley Elementary School in Philadelphia.”

-Aurora Costello (Stuski), Daughter

“Mr. Stuski” loved teaching and truly cared about his student’s success. He worked two full time jobs for twenty years to provide for his family and allowing his daughters to attend private school, the family being long time members of the Ancillae Assumpta Academy Family. Ron was a school teacher from 8am-3pm and oversaw the School Safety Program and then would change and become a hospital security guard from 4pm-12am at Parkview Hospital in the Juniata section of Philadelphia.

“He never once complained and still made time to teach me to ride a bike and play softball. The greatest and most beloved thing that I can say about my father is that he was truly present in our lives, enjoying every moment.”

-Aurora Costello (Stuski), Daughter

“Dad” aka “Pop Pop” lived with the family for twenty-eight (28)years. He was an integral part of each of his three grandchildren’s lives until his last breath. He cared from them from infancy until adulthood and they were his world.  His love and quiet steadfastness was inspirational and made an impact on all who knew him, especially his beloved son-in-law Anthony (Tony) Costello. Tony, considered Pop Pop as both an admirable mentor and a best friend. His future granddaughter-in-law, Jasmine, considered him as her grandfather and it was a position he was happy to hold, sharing stories about his childhood over breakfast on Sunday mornings. Pop Pop relished his life and “his girls,” Lulu and Lucy, the family terriers. He absolutely treasured them and would spend hours sitting in the front yard with them and greeting neighbors. He adored watching his daughter Aurora decorate for Halloween and Christmas, it gave him great joy.

Pop Pop’s love, pride and joy is survived by his children-Margaret M. (Craig), Victoria L., Aurora A. and Anthony J. Costello- and his grandchildren Galen I. Stuski and Jasmine, Deavin A. Ryley, and Phoebe Stuski-Vandermeer and a niece, nephews, and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to pay respects to the family from 10am-11:30am and attend his funeral service at 11:30am, Saturday, January 29th, 2022 at Volpe Funeral Home, 707 W. Germantown Pike, Norristown, PA 19403. Interment will be private at a later date.
