John Fessler Obituary

John "Jack" M. Fessler, 83, of East Norriton peacefully passed away on June 9, 2022. Jack was originally from Harmonville and was a 1957 graduate of Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School. After graduating, he enlisted with the U.S. Army stationed in Fort Knox, KY. Upon his discharge, Jack continued his military service in the U.S. Army Reserves retiring as an E7 Sergeant with the 369 Firefighting Unit. Jack had a very active firefighting career, for which he held positions as Captain and Battalion Chief with Harmonville Fire Company. In 1979, he was appointed Plymouth Township Fire Marshal/ Emergency Management Coordinator, a position he held for 26 years. After his retirement, he continued employment with Plymouth Township in the Code Enforcement Department. Jack also held memberships with Plymouth Fire Company and Norriton Fire Engine Company. His fire safety contributions included Senior Fire Instructor at the Montgomery County Fire Academy teaching ladders, ropes, and fire extinguisher training. He was also an active member of St. Titus Roman Catholic Church, where he served as the parish’s sacristan for many years. He was a member of the Plymouth’s Lions Club, which he served a term as President and was also a 32nd degree mason with Fritz’s Masonic Lodge.

Jack is survived by his wife Elizabeth "Liz" (Baldassano) Fessler.  Mother-in-Law Mary J. (Guarino) Baldassano.  Two daughters Joy (Timothy) Fessler- Cox and Jessica (David) Evangelist. Two sons John W. "Bill" (Cindy) Fessler, and James (Sarah) Fessler.  One brother Barry (Margaret) Fessler. Four grandchildren Stephanie, Samantha, Julia, and Trey. One great grandchild, Milana. Jack is also survived by six nieces and two nephews. In his spare time, Jack enjoyed playing bocce for the Mount Carmel and East Norriton Township leagues.  He also enjoyed gardening, dancing, taking rock-and-roll music cruises, riding roller coasters, taking trips to the Jersey shore, and spending time with his family and friends. He had a passion for custom cars and going to car shows.
 

Family and friends may call on Thursday, June 16th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Volpe Funeral Home, 707 West Germantown Pike, Norristown or Friday, June 17th from 10:00 – 10:45 am at St. Titus Church, 3000 Keenwood Road, Norristown, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests mass cards or a charitable donation can be made to the Harmonville Fire Company or your local fire company. Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Volpe Funeral Home, volpefh.com.
