Karen Ann Shaw

Karen Ann (Salsbery) Shaw, 65, of West Norriton unexpectedly passed away peacefully on 4/8/2021. Karen was born on 12/24/1955 of the late John and Betty Ann (Elsasser) Salsbery. Karen is the beloved wife of Dean Shaw and mother of Daniel (Lindi) DiSanto. Sister to Thomas Salsbery and Lois Loosli. Grandmother to Cameron, Mila, Kara and Ella.

Karen enjoyed many activities with her family and friends including walking, traveling, visiting the beach and get togethers. She cherished the holidays and Sunday dinners with the family and caring for her treasured granddaughters brought her endless hours of happiness and joy.

After graduating from Montgomery Hospital School of Nursing, she enjoyed a distinguish career for over 40 years as an RN at Montgomery Hospital/EMCM.  She started her career in Labor and Delivery and in later years joined the OB/GYN clinic and family practice. She received multiple awards recognizing her service to others including RN of the year and Employee Recognition Award for Outstanding Performance at Montgomery Hospital. Karen was a kind and compassionate soul and touched the lives of many providing exceptional care to all. 

Karen was co-treasurer of Caring Hearts Close to Home, a nonprofit organization helping families in the community facing crisis. This was just another example of how Karen impacted so many lives.

Karen will be missed by all, especially her loving husband Dean, who was looking forward to much more fun filled years with his best friend.

Karen’s viewing will be held on Monday April 12th from 5-7pm followed by a prayer services at the Volpe Funeral Home. 

In Lieu of flowers contributions can be made in Karen's memory to a memorial fund that will support the purchase of a memorial bench in her honor at the Norristown Farm Park.
