Maria Elena Ginella

Maria Elena Ginella passed peacefully at Bryn Mawr Hospital on February 15, 2021, in Bryn Mawr, PA. She was 54 years old.
Maria Ginella was born on January 21, 1967, in Norristown, PA to her parents, Armando and Aurora Pellegrin. She graduated from the Art Institute of Philadelphia with a degree in Fashion Merchandising in 1987. From 1988 to 2003, Maria was a wife and homemaker, raising three children while obtaining Paralegal certification, as well, Interior Design.
In 2011, Maria co-founded a project initiative in Ghana, West Africa that would provide adequate eye-care and low-cost eyewear for school children living in rural communities. In addition, from 2012 to 2015, Maria relocated from the United States to Africa and procured all necessary equipment that was used in her project initiative with the Senya Beruku Health Centre’s outreach program.
Until her passing, Maria was an active commuter as she held a medical receptionist position during her employment in Center City, Philadelphia. When at home, Maria would spend quality time with her family and friends, enthusiastically relishing in the birth of her first grandchild. As the matriarch of her family, Maria loved being a mother. Also, she enjoyed cooking, baking, spending time at the beach, traveling, reminiscing, laughing, and tending best to those whom she loved and to those who loved her.
Maria is survived by her two sons, Salvatore III and Dario Ginella; her daughter, Alyssa Ginella; her father, Armando Pellegrin; and one grandchild, Giovanni Ginella. She is preceded in death by her mother, Aurora Pellegrin; and her brother, Armando Pellegrin, Jr.
Viewing for Maria “Lala” will take place on February 22, 2021, at Holy Savior Church in Norristown, PA at 8:30 am. Funeral mass begins at 10:00 am., and burial to follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
